Don't Blame The Eater, by David Zinczenko discusses why the fast food industry can be blamed for American obeseity. This correlation is made because for Americans, and specifically teenagers, it is the easiest and most affordable food source. There are 13,000 McDonald's in the United States, which means one on practically every block. It is easier for teens to get their hand on a Big Mac then it is to get fruits and vegetables. There are not many cheap alternatives provided to help fight the issue of this fast food epidemic we are facing today. So as Zinczenko says at the end of this essay, "let the deep-fried chips fall where they may," because this industry isn't slowing anytime soon.

David Zinczenko addresses the correlation of growing healthcare problems and the increase in fast food consumption in his essay, Don't Blame The Eater. As he states in his paper, Tye 2 diabetes in childre nwas only 5 percent before 1994. Now it accounts for at least 30 percent of childhood diabetes. This increase has caused the CDC, Centers for Disease Control, to increase the healthcare cost by $98 billion dollars a year since 1969. Fasr food industries are not forced to place warning labels on their products like tobacco products, but if their were these companies would be less likely to be sued for causing health issues in consumers. As Zinczenko pointed out, it is only a matter of time before the government sees the direct line between the $1 billion dollars fast foods spend on advertising and the growing healthcare costs.
