Jill Rosser and Mark Halliday were the poets tonight. I perferred Mark's poems because they were easy to understand and some what humerous. My favorite poem of the night was No Rescue Squad. This poem is about him fighting with his girlfriend who had stopped making time for him. She was greiving her father's death, but he felt that her giving him attention was more improtant. It seems like a very depressing poem, but that last line is what made me like it. The line was "then 11 months later I met Jessica."
I liked the comerical aspect of it, but everyone knows what a breakup feels like, and when you find someone new it's a great feeling. My favorite poem from Jill was titled, Polaris Mall. This poem talks about geese that have returned to the parking lot. The mall was 10 years old at the time. This means that these geese have returned here looking for there home that was plowed over for that long. At the same time the poem talks about the bookstore closing down. I think the meaning of this poem was to talk about how nothing lasts forever, no matter how hard we try to keep it the same. The other poems were good considering I don't like poetry, but these were the two that related the most to me.
