This title originally confused me. When I think of a collage or mosaic I think of artwork and writing is the furthest thing from my mind. After reading this essay, I fully understand why it is called what it is called. The reading itself explains a specific and highly creative way of writing. This type of writing pieces together different time frames or scenes, different points of view, and different people's views of one event. These small parts are pieced together in a specific way to create the "piece of art" the author was trying to construct. I supposed a story or essay can be a form of art just like a painting. I personally enjoyed that this reading had small stories throughout it. This made it easier to understand and visualize what a Collage would actually look like. I was also a fan that the author can up with a name for each essay one of the story characters were writing. This helped with the idea that no two segmented writing pieces are made the same. Much like a piece of art, it is designed specifically to portray an emotion or to catch the attention of a reader. I may be biased towards this form of writing, or reading about this form of writing, due to the fact that I love art; so I'm hoping that our readings are much like this in the future, except maybe a bit shorter.
